Hello, my name is Don. I’m a the founder and CEO of Cloud Pathfinder Services Inc, as well as a senior level Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect and Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Known for my top-rated reputation in end-to-end project delivery, I bring extensive experience in planning, engineering, developing, and managing projects from conception through to completion.
Over the past 14+ years of my career, I’ve developed a comprehensive hands-on understanding of end-to-end cloud architecture, team leadership, strategic thinking, digital transformations, application development, data engineering, machine learning, software development, DevOps, information security, and project management just to name a few.
I bring to the table a combination of business-centric technical oversight, strategic thinking, and leadership skills, backed by my honor roll status graduation from Vancouver Island University’s Information Technology and Applied Systems program in 2012. My work experience spans from software start-ups to Fortune 500 giants, notably in finance, national telecom, national retail, energy, and enterprise IT sectors such as IBM & CDW.
I’ve consistently delivered & executed successful technology plans, cloud migrations, security & best practice improvements, Terraform deployments, CI/CD pipelines, data engineering initiatives, and highly scalable application deliveries on Google Cloud Platform & Azure. As part of my roles, I’ve also created planning documents and diagrams, and provided post-delivery documentation, ensuring a complete knowledge transfer.
When I’m not delivering end-to-end projects in the cloud, I’m usually solving complex problems that stump entire teams. I’ve done a lot of this, including saving one company from bankruptcy during the process.
During my first semester at VIU, my professor imparted a compelling vision: if we diligently applied everything taught, we would eventually become architects in IT & Development, akin to an “IT Swiss Army Knife”. Remarkably, only 20% of students successfully graduated from this demanding program, and I was among them, finishing on the honor roll.
Since that foundational experience, I’ve embraced roles across the entire spectrum we were trained in, achieving success in each. My career has predominantly been as a contractor, where I’ve undertaken and completed stints as a developer, database designer, network engineer, enterprise domain specialist, desktop software engineer, DevOps engineer, API architect, machine learning engineer, project manager, director of SaaS operations, cloud manager, and, most significantly, as a cloud/solutions architect.
I’m a dedicated professional with a strong work ethic, eager to contribute my skills as a team player to bring your project to fruition. Delivering your project right matters to me too.
As a self-starter, I uphold integrity and equality in the workplace and was recognized by the Salvation Army for volunteer work with marginalized groups. I was also selected to assist the Governor General of Canada early on in my career while I was employed by Vancouver Island University.
